At the end of July I was in Coventry to photograph Siobhan and Ryan’s epic Irish wedding which was held at Christ The King Catholic Church with their reception being held at the Forest of Arden Hotel and Country Club in Meriden. I’ve said before how wet and windy this summer has been, Siobhan and Ryan had to endure wind tunnel level gusts with heavy downpours thrown in for good measure too. The weather has certainly been challenging this “summer”.

I met with Siobhan and her bridesmaids at her parents house on the outskirts of Coventry city centre on the morning of the wedding. It was a flurry of activity with hair by Liz O’Dea and makeup by Danielle. Pat and Frank, Siobhan’s mum and dad, ensured energy levels were kept high with piles of sausage and bacon sarnies! Whilst I was with the girls my second photographer for the day, the lovely Emma from Photography by Emma Jane, was with the boys for their preparations. This of course included a last drink at Christ the King Parish Centre which was where Siobhan and Ryan met over 16 years ago. There’s a strong family connection to the parish centre as the bar is currently run by Siobhan’s dad and was also where he met his wife too.

Rather handily, the parish centre, is right next door to Christ the King church so it was only a short hop for the boys. Meanwhile the bridal party ensured they traveled the short distance from Siobhan’s parents house in style by hopping in a white Bentley Flying Spur which was from Lux Limo. For the ceremony Siobhan wore a white Romantica dress from Special Occasions Bridalwear in Coventry whilst the bridesmaids wore light blue matching dresses from ASOS. Ryan and his groomsmen wore blue toned three piece suits which were from Next. The Catholic wedding ceremony, which also included mass, was conducted by Father Tom Farrel who has known Siobhan and Ryan for a number of years and so was able to add a real personal touch to the proceedings. With the legalities completed everyone headed outside to attempt to throw confetti in the howling crosswind!

The wedding party then made their way the short distance from Coventry to The Forest of Arden Hotel and Country Club in Meriden for the wedding reception. Guests were met at the Cast Iron bar with a drinks reception and canapés before heading out into the marquee for a three course wedding breakfast. The marquee, which had been dressed by LRS Productions (who also provided the bridal flowers), looked stunning and featured lots of personal touches including some rather impressive drinking straws which had been bent into the guests names.

With the evening drawing on it was time to cut the wedding cake (courtesy of The Cakery in Leamington) before the traditional first dance. This is where Siobhan and Ryan pulled the biggest surprise of the day with an amazing choreographed routine which had been kept secret from all of their wedding guests. The dancefloor was then kept jumping by the brilliant Soul City who played two stomping sets featuring Motown, Pop, Soul, Disco, Rock and Funk… including a rather brilliant rendition of Justin Timberlake’s Señorita which featured plenty of audience participation. Here’s a few pictures from Siobhan and Ryan’s wedding…
