Two weekends ago I was at Lucy and Doug’s wedding at Mythe Barn near Atherstone, which sits on the border of the three counties of Leicestershire, Warwickshire and Staffordshire. The farm upon which the barn is located is steeped in history and is thought to be the last camp site for King Richard III’s army before his defeat at the Battle of Bosworth in 1485. This year seems to have seen a lot of strange weather and Lucy and Doug experienced the full gamut of what the British summer can throw at people in one day. We had everything from blistering sunshine to cold wind and torrential rain. However; the crazy weather didn’t stop the fun.

I met up with Lucy and her bridesmaids for bridal prep in The Gallery room at Mythe Barn, hair was by JHD (John’s Hair Design) of Nuneaton and makeup by Rachelle Grimes. We were joined by Lucy and Doug’s daughter Lilly, who was one of the bridesmaids, and also by their son Max, who provided plenty of energy into the proceedings as well and a fist full of Minions!

The wedding ceremony took place in Mythe Barn’s Oak Barn. Lucy wore a stunning Charlotte Balbier wedding dress which was from The Bridal Rooms in Swinfen along with a tiara and veil which was from Rachel Ash in Atherstone. Doug and his groomsmen wore matching deep blue two piece suits and grey waistcoats. After the formalities had been completed everyone headed out into the Cart Barn for the drinks reception which was accompanied by some exceedingly scrummy canapes. Throughout the afternoon the guests were entertained by the amazing Gavin Parsons who mesmerised everyone with a series of close up, mind bending magic.

With the drinks quaffed everyone headed into The Grain Store for the stunning three course Wedding breakfast which was supplied by Mythe Barn’s in house catering team Galloping Gourmet. As the evening wore on The Grain Store was cleared to make way for Distorted Decade, a three piece band who played two pounding sets of guitar driven music. Here’s a few pictures from Lucy and Doug’s big day . . .
