Robert Llewellyn @ Birmingham Skeptics in the Pub @ The Victoria

Birmingham Skeptics in the Pub recently had the pleasure of hosting an event with Robert Llewellyn,  probably best known to most people as the actor that plays Kryten in hit sci-fi comedy series Red Dwarf. As well as a myriad of other TV work (Scrapheap Challenge, How Do They Do It, Car Pool) he is also a successful author and now one of the UK’s biggest advocates of electric cars.

Hot on the successful return of Red Dwarf to our TV screens he came along to a packed Victoria to give a talk called “Electric Cars Are Rubbish. Aren’t They?”. As well as electric cars, the hugely entertaining talk covered many bases including renwable energy, fracking, the Top Gear Tesla debarcle and dogs!

A few images from the night are included below . . .

Brum Skeptics made a DVD recording of the talk, so if you missed it, you can watch it in the comfort of your own home for a measily £3.00. This and many of their previous talks can be found at their Skeptical DVDs page.

You can follow Robert’s latest antics on his own website The LlewBlog,  LlewTube or on Twitter @bobbyllew. Fully Charged, his video podcast show about electric vehicles can be found at YouTube.

For more information on Birmingham Skeptics in the Pub please see their websites http://www.brumskeptics.blogspot.co.uk/ or http://birmingham.skepticsinthepub.org/, follow them on Twitter @Brum_Skeptics or like their Facebook page http://www.facebook.com/birminghamskeptics. Next up they have John Sweeney, the award winning investigative journalist and author, who will be giving a talk about  Scientology. This clip, from his now infamous Panorama programme, will give you a taste of what to expect.

Oh, and I nearly forgot to say what a lovely bloke Robert was. Before and after the talk he chatted and posed for pictures with fans, signed books, DVDs and pictures. He’d probably still be there now talking to people if he hadn’t of had a train to catch home. Here’s Patrick, one of the co-organiser of Brum Skeptics, with his memento of the evening!
