I’ve photographed weddings from Scotland in the north to St Ives in the south but this is the first wedding I’ve been to that featured a steam train. Marti and Chris married a couple of weeks ago at Kingsley and Froghall Station on the Churnet Valley Railway near Stoke-on-Trent in north Staffordshire.
The wedding ceremony was held in the beautiful Victorian period waiting room before an intimate gathering of family and friends. Once the formalities were completed the wedding party hopped onto TKH 2944 “Hotspur”, a stunning train which was originally built in 1952, and steamed out onto the Staffordshire Moorlands. On the train the guests were treated to an afternoon tea wedding breakfast served in the dining car as well as stunning views of the Churnet Valley as the train made the return journey to Cheddleton.
Here’s a few photographs from Martina and Chris’ steam powered wedding . . .
