Coombe Abbey Wedding Photographer – Lisa and Karl

Last weekend I made the short hop from Birmingham over to Coombe Abbey in Coventry for Lisa and Karl’s spectacular wedding. It was an amazing day shared with family and friends in the stunning surroundings of what is probably Warwickshire’s grandest wedding venue.

Coombe Abbey is a building with plenty of history. It can trace is origins back to the 12th century when it was originally founded as a monastery but also has ties to Henry VIII, the gunpowder plot and England’s greatest gardener, Capability Brown.

I met up with Lisa and her bridesmaids early on the wedding morning to capture the bridal preparations. It was a hive of activity, hair was by Leanne Lea and makeup was being done by the lovely Gemma Clarke. Last time I saw Gemma was at Rachel and Richard’s wedding at Birmingham Botanical Gardens she always does an amazing job.

As the ceremony approached Lisa slipped into her stunning two peice Paloma Blanca dress which was from Wedding Belles of Four Oaks. The bridesmaids wore matching pink Coast dresses from ASOS and the groomsmen wore dark blue suits from Next.

With everyone ready the bridal party headed down to the Abbeygate room to meet up with Karl, his groomsmen and the rest of the wedding party. The Abbeygate room, which is a former stable block and servants quarters, now makes a unique wedding ceremony room with its candle lit atmospherics and dramatic purple lighting.

With the legal formalities completed everyone headed out to the West Terrace for a drinks reception before making their way into the Cloisters Room for the wedding breakfast. The wedding breakfast was memorable not just for the stunning food as the fire alarms went off halfway through service, which resulted in the whole building being evacuated! Whilst I’m mentioning the wedding breakfast I should also give a shout out to Eat My Muffin Bakery who provided Lisa and Karl’s stunning cake.

Once everyone had made their way back inside the wedding breakfast was completed before the DJ from Scream Entertainments got the dancefloor moving for the rest of the evening. Here’s a few pictures from Lisa and Karl’s epic wedding…
