Back in January I had the huge privilege to photograph Jenna and Jonny’s amazing wedding at the wonderful Dodmoor House near Northampton. It was my first wedding of 2019 and I don’t think the year could have started any better than this super stylish affair. I first met Jenna and Jonny when I was shooting Lottie and Mike’s amazing farm wedding last summer and it was great to be able to catch up with some familiar faces.
The day started in The Dodford Room at Dodmoor House where Jenna and her bridesmaids were readying themselves for the ceremony, hair was by Demi and makeup by Candice Fuller. Over at the Mercure Daventry Court Hotel Jonny and his groomsmen were easing into their Cavani suits, which were from the Vintage Suit Hire Company, before heading for Dodmoor House. As a surprise Jenna had ordered a stunning vintage Aston Martin DB5, hired from Special Occasion Classic Cars, to take Jonny and his best man to the wedding venue.
As the guests started to arrive the girls made their final preparations with bridesmaids Lottie and Anna donning their matching Jacques Vert dresses before helping Jenna into her stunning Allure Bridals wedding dress, which was from Gabriella Bridal of Northampton. A slight sprinkling of rain just before the ceremony was about to start resulted in the “wet weather plan” being implemented with Jenna and her bridesmaids making their way across the courtyard behind screens. It certainly added a fun element to the proceedings!
The ceremony, which took place in the Courtyard barn, was a wonderful affair full of tears, joy and laughter. The venue had been decorated beautifully by the bride and groom and also included some of the most amazing winter flowers I’ve ever seen which were from Willow and Thyme (please make sure to check out Jenna’s stunning bouquet too). With the legal formalities completed the guests then made their way outside into the winter sunshine for a drinks reception before I whisked the bride a groom away for a few portraits prior to the wedding breakfast.
For the evening reception The Folly Brothers took to the Catesby barn and got the whole joint jumping with some of the most infectious bluegrass music heard this side of Tennessee. Shapes were thrown, feet were stamped and bodies flung about with such abandon that I’m quite sure that the floor of the barn will never be the same again! Then DJ Scott Grainger took over and kept the dancefloor moving until the small hours.
Before I sign off I must say a massive thanks to Jenna and Jonny for having me along to capture their wonderful wedding, it truly was the best way to start my 2019. I also must give a massive thanks to my brother from another mother, Roo from Roo Stain Wedding Photography, who did an amazing job second shooting with me on the day and also to Shaun Lawson who provided video for the day.
