A couple of weeks ago I had the great pleasure of photographing Kathy and John’s wedding, possibly the most laid back wedding that I’ve ever been to. They married in a humanist ceremony in the concert hall at the Barber Institute of Fine Arts on the campus of Birmingham University.
It was a truly international affair as the brides’s family were from Austria and the groom’s from Ireland. The ceremony featured lots of music as the maid of honour, who studies opera at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama, gave a stunning performance and many of Kathy and John’s friends sang several numbers as a choir.
There were lots of quirky touches throughout the day including magic wands, ties made of bacon and the bride being kidnapped after the ceremony (apparently in the name of edelweiss) and only being released after a rendition of The Spice Girls’ Wannabe from the groom!
After the ceremony the wedding party headed off to The Blue Piano in Edgbaston for their reception. The more musical guests made the most of the piano with a live musical accompaniment throughout the afternoon and evening. Here’s a few pictures from the day . . .
