Two weeks ago I was at Moddershall Oaks, near Stone in Staffordshire, to photograph the wonderful wedding of Sarah and Matt. It’s the first time I’ve been back to the venue since Jodie and Liam’s wedding in 2013 and I was surprised to see how much it’s changed in the intervening two years. One of the biggest changes is that they now offer outdoor weddings with the ceremony being held underneath a pergola between the lake and the private woodland, it really is a stunning spot.
The bridal party had stayed at the Moddershall Oaks Spa retreat the night before so I met up with Sarah and her bridesmaids in their room. It was a flurry of activity with hair being done by Francesco of Cheadle and Make-up by Jemma Bailey from Bronze and Beautiful. I was also joined by Joy from Joy Bailey Video who was recording the events of the day. Just as Sarah was preparing to don her stunning Essence of Australia wedding dress, which was from The Bridal Lounge, Matt arrived in an enormous Range Rover Sport stretch limo which easily accommodated his 8 groomsmen.
Despite the wedding being held at the start of October everyone braved the slight autumnal chills for the outdoor ceremony. As well as this being my first outdoor wedding, it was also the first wedding I’ve been to that has featured a sand ceremony. Once all the formalities completed the wedding party headed indoors for a well deserved warm and a stunning wedding breakfast prepared by Moddershall Oaks’ incredibly talented chefs.
As the evening drew in the guests were entertained by The Echo, who belted out two stunning sets of music featuring songs from the 60s to the present day. Those still with room to eat were able to sample the succulent hog roast which was provided by Pinky’s Hog Roast.
Here’s a few photos from Sarah and Matt’s big day . . .
