I recently made my third and final visit of the year to the Fairlawns Hotel and Spa in Aldridge for Jane and Neil’s intimate wedding. Jane and Neil were very much of the mindset “do things your own way”. Many of the wedding traditions were discarded; there was no wedding breakfast, no speeches, and there was definitely no fuss. As Jane told me on the wedding day . . . they just wanted to get on with the party as quickly as possible!
I met with Jane at the The Fairlawns on the morning of the wedding for the final stages of the bridal preparation. Hair was by Stuart Rowles from Moore Than Nails and makeup was by Jessica Lediard of Project Beauty. For the ceremony Jane wore an Alfred Angelo Sapphire dress which was from Lacewings Bridal Worcester whilst Neil and his best man wore blue suits from Duncan James Menswear of Walsall.
Neil is a big music fan and guitarist in Midlands funk-rockers Klasside so it was inevitable that music was going to be an integral part of the day. After the ceremony the guests were entertained by the marvellous Guy Jones who played a stunning solo acoustic set outside on the terrace as the canapés were served. Whilst Guy was playing some bags of inflatables were bought out to entertain the children, although the Klasside boys seemed to make the most of the inflatable guitars!
Following Guy was the groom’s dad’s band who played a set of 50s and 60s blues and rock covers. They were joined by a couple of the Klasside boys on the bass and cajon who jammed along. Then it was the groom’s turn to step up with Klasside. They normally play with the amps turned up to 11 but for this occasion the boys decided to keep it a little more suited to the mood so belted out a stripped back acoustic set of their own numbers as well as some great covers including their brilliant acoustic funk version of House of Pain’s Jump Around. As the evening wore on Dj Gary took over the music duties to keep everyone entertained until the small hours.
Here’s a few pictures from Jane and Neil’s big day . . .
