My first wedding of 2022 was pretty special. I stared the year back in February by returning to one of my favourite Birmingham wedding venues, Highbury Hall in Moseley. I was there to photograph the wonderful wedding of Beth and Vicky. It was a super relaxed day which was full of fun, involved a few tears and had plenty of laughter too.
Highbury Hall is a stunning Grade II listed, Victorian era, gothic mansion which was commissioned by the renowned British statesman Joseph Chamberlain. It dates from 1878 and was Chamberlain’s main Birmingham residence until his death in 1914. During World War 1 it was converted for use as a hospital and home for injured soldiers before being handed over to Birmingham Council to run. It’s a great venue for a wedding and features stunning indoor locations, thanks to its restored Arts and Crafts period interior, as well as plenty of outdoor space, thanks to the adjoining Highbury Park. It also has the best staff in Brum. Sam, the wedding co-ordinator does a sterling job ensuring the day runs smoothly. The other staff are also brilliant too with the amazing Asha stepping out from behind the bar to help Beth with her hair!
The ceremony took place in the Drawing Room with views overlooking Highbury Park. With vows completed and marriage schedule signed the newly married couple and their guests made their way into the bar for the drinks reception before a 3 course wedding breakfast was served in the spectacular double height Main Hall. For the evening reception everyone retuned to the Drawing Room where the DJ kept the dancefloor moving all night. Well, at least until the prosecco gun made an appearance and everyone made their way outside to partake in the gun fun!
Before I sign off I’d like to say a massive thank you to Beth and Vicky for having me along to photograph their wedding, it was a real pleasure to have been able to spend their special day with them.
