Back at the start of July I had the huge pleasure to photograph Phillipee and Aundre’s super stylish West Midlands wedding at The Eaton Hotel in Birmingham.
On the morning of the wedding I met with Phillipee and the bridal party at The Eaton Hotel on the Hagley Road for bridal preparations. It was a flurry of activity with bridesmaids preparing themselves for the day ahead whilst Alisha from Makeup Versatile was busy doing bridal hair and makeup. Once Phillppe had got into her stunning Ronald Joyce dress, which was from Isaac Charles Bridal House, the girls then jumped into their swanky stretch limos, from Manns Limousines, and made their way to the church.
The ceremony took place at the Bethel United Church in Handsworh on what was a blisteringly hot summer day. The guests were kept entertained by a stunning gospel band who belted out an uplifting and joyous selection of songs as they waited for the arrival of the bride. Phillippe was escorted down the aisle by both her step-dad and her father, it was a lovely touch which enabled them both to enjoy a special moment with their daughter on her wedding day. Waiting for her at the front of the church was Aundre, who looked incredibly sharp in his white tuxedo which was from Slaters Menswear. The ceremony was a wonderful affair which saw Phillippe and Aundre married in front of their closest friends and family. With the legal formalities completed everyone then headed outside into the blazing sunshine to congratulate the bride and groom.
As the wedding guests made their way back to The Eaton Hotel, the bridal party made a quick detour via Birmingham Botanical Gardens to grab some group shots, bridal portraits and an ice cream! I’ve shot at the Botanical Gardens many times before and is a great venue for weddings and portraits.
The wedding reception at The Eaton Hotel featured a stunning Afro-Caribbean inspired buffet. I also should mention Carleto Eubanks who provided the wedding cake and also the amazing carved fruit sculpture which you can see in the pictures below.
The evening reception carried on with The stylish and elegant theme with Evelyn & The Vipers taking to the stage to provide a sizzling jazz tinged musical accompaniment to those hitting the dancefloor. They played a varied mix of soul and jazz standards as well as some more modern tunes which were given their unique twist . . . their cover of Massive Attack’s Unfinished Symphony was just sublime.
Before I sign off I need to say a massive thanks to the brilliant Emma from By Emma Jayne who second shot for me on the day. Here’s 50 photos from Phillippe and Aundre’s wonderful wedding . . .
