Yesterday I met with Jo and Andrew at Winterbourne House and Garden in Birmingham for their pre-wedding photoshoot. Winterbourne House was originally built in 1903 by John and Margaret Nettlefold, industrial pioneers and joint founders of Guest, Keen and Nettlefold, which became the industrial behemoth GKN.
I often think that Winterbourne House and Garden is one of Birmingham’s best kept secrets. The grade II listed house, now owned by the University of Birmingham, has been beautifully restored in the arts and crafts style complete with William Morris wallpapers. The 7 acre botanical garden is a real oasis of calm and feels like it’s a million miles away from the hustle and bustle of Birmingham City Centre which is only a few minutes down the road.
After meeting with Jo and Andrew we made our way to Winterbourne’s tea room for a drink and a chat through the plans for their upcoming wedding. They’re getting married in 4 weeks time at the stunning Mythe Barn in Atherstone, Leicestershire. It’s a venue that I’ve shot at before and can’t wait to return to as Jo and Andrew’s wedding like it’s going to be great fun. Once we’d finished discussing their big day we then headed out into the gardens for a bit of fun with the camera . . .
