One of the most frequently asked wedding questions I get is “what happens if it rains?”. Unfortunately the weather is the one thing that you have no control over so my advice is “Do a Tash and Gav” and just get on with it! Tash and Gav married on August bank holiday Sunday at the exclusive Carbis Bay Hotel on the outskirts of St Ives in Cornwall. When they were planning their wedding I’m sure that they were envisaging a hot summer day with lots of sunshine. However the August bank holiday worked it’s usual weather trickery and instead provided a day of continual rain. This didn’t put a dampener on things though as they and their guests had a fabulous day.
I met up with the wedding party at The Carbis Bay Hotel early on the morning of the big day to capture the final preparations. There was some last minute confusion with the groomsmen on how to properly tie a cravat which was solved thanks to some help from a YouTube video. Tash looked beautiful in her Alfred Angelo dress which was supplied by Made by Angels of Cannock whilst the groomsmen wore morning suits from Moss Bros. The bride’s and bridesmaid’s stunning bouquets, which were imported from Bo Ho Bridal in the USA, kept with seaside theme and were made from shells and starfish rather than flowers. All of the other decorations in the venue were made by Tash and Gav themselves and looked absolutely amazing.
The wedding ceremony took place in the Godrevy Room at the hotel, a stunning spot with vistas over the beach at Carbis Bay. Just as the ceremony finished we were incredibly lucky to get a ten minute break in the rain so that we could go out onto the beach for a few pictures. After the wedding breakfast the happy couple and their guests braved the elements and spent the evening in the open sided beach bar where they were entertained by the brilliant Sam Howes. Sam provided a fantastic musical accompaniment to the evening, blasting out a range of tunes from the 60’s to the present day. Sam is a regular at the hotel during the summer so I urge you to drop by and see him if you’re in the area . . . just don’t ask him about the ten o’clock slot!
I’d just like to say a huge thank you to Tash and Gav for having me along as thier Carbis Bay Hotel wedding photographer. Whenever I hear “You and Me Song” by The Wannadies I’m sure to be transported back to a rain swept Cornish beach. Love the song, loved this wedding, loved these guys . . .
