My first wedding of 2024 is in the bag and now fresh up on the blog. Back in the middle of March I was the Mill Barns wedding photographer for Sam & Sam’s wonderful wedding . . . or should that be Sam2? I think I’ll stick to Samantha and Samuel just to make things a little easier! I first met Samantha and Samuel back in October 2021 at Sarah and Jay’s stunning wedding at Foxtail Barns where they were guests for the day.
I met with Samantha and her bridesmaids early on the morning of the wedding in The Dressing Room, Mill Barns‘ on site bridal prep suite. Hair was by Laoura Antoniou and makeup by the wonderful, cat loving, Makeup by Harper. I’ve worked with Harper many times over the years and she always does an amazing job, making sure the bride and the bridal party look their absolute best.
Meanwhile upstairs in the guest rooms, Samuel and his groomsmen were watching the Wolves v Coventry City F.A. Cup Quarterfinal football match. Both Samuel and myself are massive Wolves fans so we were trying to try and keep half an eye on with what was happening over in Wolverhampton whilst also focusing on the day ahead. As the halftime whistle blew (Wolves were losing 1-0) the boys turned off the match, put on their super stylish tweed three piece suits, which were from The Dressing Rooms, before heading out to greet the arriving guests.
Meanwhile downstairs Samantha and the girls were making their final preparations. Samantha eased into her stunning white wedding dress, which was from The Dressing Rooms, whilst her bridesmaids wore matching green dresses which were from Victoria Lou. With the grand reveal to her dad, Bob, completed . . . yes there were a few tears, everyone was now ready for the main event!
The Ceremony Barn looked resplendent. It had been beautifully dressed by Lesley from White Fern Weddings with the stunning flowers provided by Ivory Hill Floral. As Samuel nervously waited for the arrival of his bride news filtered through that Wolves had pulled the score back to 1 all. Then seconds before Samantha came through the doors, we heard that with 2 minutes left on the clock, Wolves had taken the lead and were surely Wembley bound for a quarter final match. Samantha looked radiant as she entered the room, taking Samuel’s breath away even more than the Wolves score! I think there were even more tears. The ceremony was a wonderful affair held in front of the bride and groom’s closest friends and family. We had readings, lots of laughter, a few more tears and a lot of love on display. With the vows completed, rings exchanged and the schedule signed, the newly married couple made their way outside under a shower of confetti.
With the drinks reception underway the news filtered though that Wolves had somehow managed to lose the match 3-2. However; this disappointment couldn’t wipe the smile of Samuel’s face as he’d just married the love of his life. The guests made the most of the unusually warm March weather and enjoyed drinks and canapés on the outdoor terrace, taking in the views over the lake and out onto the Staffordshire countryside. Once the drinks had been drunk and the canapés consumed, everyone then made their way into The Wedding Breakfast Barn ready for a sumptuous three course feast.
The food was followed by the speeches which were then followed by a surprise from Bob, Samantha’s dad. He’d arranged for a visit from The Best Singing Waiters who got everyone up on their feet for a rowdy and riotous singalong. There were dance offs, congas formed and even the removal of a few items of clothing! Meanwhile out in the foyer the team from The Racing Rooms had set up a spectacular Scalextric track where the guests could race each other around a virtual Silverstone using mini Formula 1 cars.
For the evening reception the band Lazy Marmalade played two storming sets of live music. The acoustic duo kept the dance floor jumping all night with a selection of hits from through the decades. Air guitars were thrashed, shapes were thrown and moves were busted as the wedding party got on down, dancing until the small hours.
Before I sign off I must say a huge thank you to Samantha and Samuel for having me along as their Mill Barns wedding photographer. It was a real pleasure to have been part of such an amazing and super fun wedding. I also need to give a big shout out to Craig from Amazingdayz who did a sterling job on the wedding videography. Here’s 50 photos to give you a look at Samantha and Samuel’s special day . . .
